Haeckels has introduced three new products under the "Haeckels Lab" range, furthering its commitment to sustainable and effective skincare through the exploration of lab-grown ingredients.

Established in 2012, Haeckels, located in Margate, has emerged as a formidable disruptor in the cosmetics business regarding carbon-neutral initiatives. The team is now advancing its efforts to reduce emissions by investigating ingredients cultivated in-house and derived from renewable sources. The initial collection will comprise cleaning milk, toner, and serum, with further products to be introduced via a "test then drop" approach.

The firm asserts, "In essence, the carbon emissions associated with the cultivation, processing, transportation, and production of natural ingredients significantly surpass their advantages." “Furthermore, natural forests and trees are harvested to clear land for the cultivation of these ingredients, while water is redirected and channelled to this area.”

The initial products were distributed to a chosen clientele in November 2022, with the feedback – as reported by the team – “surpassing anticipated metrics.” By evaluating the items before to market introduction, the brand aims to operate at a more disruptive and innovative pace, enabling them to test products without extensive production runs and custom packaging.

The new trio has been formulated with a proprietary substance called Spiraglow. The microbiologically optimised substance has demonstrated in clinical trials a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles by up to 22 percent, while also enhancing general suppleness. “Similar to lab-grown vegan meats, these products are designed to be nature-identical, derived from renewable ingredients that require significantly fewer resources than their natural equivalents,” the firm elaborates. The objective of this new division is to provide efficient sustainability solutions via lab-grown innovations.

All new Haeckels Labs products are currently available. The Spiraglow Hydrating Toner is £42 GBP (about $49 USD), the Spiraglow Cleansing Milk is £48 GBP ($57 USD), and the Spiraglow EGF Serum is £72.00 ($87 USD).
