A new culinary television star has been crowned
Following weeks of intense competition, Top Chef announced the winner of season 22 during the finale of the Bravo reality series on June 12.
Bailey Sullivan, Tristen Epps-Long, and Shuai Wang were the sole contenders to reach the final elimination challenge in Milan, where they were tasked with preparing an exceptional four-course progressive dinner to secure the prestigious $250,000 prize.
For the pivotal career challenge, Shuai concentrated on his background by preparing a Chinese-inspired dish, while Tristen similarly drew upon his Afro-Caribbean roots to influence his culinary selections.
Simultaneously, Bailey adhered to her distinctive "quirky" aesthetic and devised a lunch that was unorthodox, eccentric, and amusing.
After the remarkable display of culinary expertise, judges Kristen Kish, Tom Colicchio, and Gail Simmons had the challenging responsibility of evaluating the contestants' achievements and shortcomings—and there were scarcely any shortcomings.
"Today's meal was just exceptional," Tom told the three finalists prior to judging. "They say I don't have much of a poker face, if I'm not happy, I'm not happy. But I was happy, so thank you."
Kristen—Top Chef's season 10 winner—added, "Well, the finale of season 22, I'd say the chefs certainly delivered on a lot of promises to us, but also to themselves."
