TikTok aims to enhance its e-commerce division in 2024. The ByteDance-owned video application intends to augment its e-commerce operations "tenfold," as reported by Business of Fashion, referencing sources with knowledge of the situation.

For TikTok, this would apparently amount to almost $17.5 billion USD in revenue. Recent internal business meetings discussed the 2024 objectives for TikTok Shop on the US version of the app, as reported by Business of Fashion. Those objectives, however, are liable to modification over the year.

Apparently, in alignment with that initiative, TikTok said on Wednesday its intention to quadruple vendor fees. At present, TikTok retains only 2% of sales in the United States. The reduction will be elevated to 6% in April and subsequently enhanced to 8% in July. The fee remains comparatively cheap contrasted to the 15% that Amazon extracts from the majority of merchants.

TikTok seems to be positioning itself to compete with established quick fashion stores like Temu and Shein, both of which are also Chinese-based. As TikTok Shop advances its marketing efforts, vendors may be inclined to transition from Amazon due to the relatively reduced fees.
