Rémi Maillat, a watch design engineer, is the founder of the independent Krayon brand, which produces timepieces that emphasise our relationship with natural time cycles. Krayon's acclaimed Everywhere watch, which records sunset and sunrise times globally, was followed by Maillat's more straightforward Anywhere watch, which displays the duration of daylight with sunrise and sunset hours for a particular region. In 2025, Maillat created the Anyday calendar watch as a more practical time-management tool. The Anyday is a novel, practical mechanical planner that presents all the days and dates of a month at a glance, akin to a portable monthly organiser. Krayon unveils a second iteration of the Anyday, crafted in warm 18k rose gold and complemented with a sophisticated two-tone anthracite grey dial, after the first model in white gold.

Initially, the Anyday may be perceived as a simple time-and-date indicator, including conventional hour and minute hands at the center, together with a pointer hand denoting the date along the periphery. Nonetheless, there is significantly more than seems on the surface.

Anyday not only presents the current date but also indicates whether it is a weekday or a weekend. To distinguish them, two overlaid discs beneath the cuts on the light-grey outer track emphasise the days of the week in grey, with Saturdays and Sundays accentuated in gold. A rose gold crescent-shaped pointer hand indicates the current date and day. The images suggest that it is Thursday, the 6th of xxx month. For the superstitious, Anyday offers an immediate response about whether the 13th day of the current month occurs on a Friday. The strong differentiation between weekdays and weekends indicates that the 13th falls on a Thursday. The four dots between the 31st and the 1st function as a visual separator between the conclusion of one month and the commencement of the next, while simultaneously indicating the first four days of the subsequent month, employing the same colour coding for weekdays and weekends. Due to the synchronisation of signals to a 31-day month, the calendar necessitates correction five times annually. User-friendliness remains paramount, and adjustments are executed through the crown.

The new 18k rose gold variant, identical in specs to the white gold edition, features a compact diameter of 39mm, a slender height of 9.5mm, and a polished finish throughout. The juxtaposition of the refined rose gold casing and the dual-toned anthracite dial is remarkably sophisticated. The central darker grey area features a guilloché design of "Y" motifs (the brand's hallmark) and is embellished with attached Y-shaped rose gold indices. An examination of the gold indices exposes their refined Y-shaped tops and contrasting sandblasted facets, exemplifying the superior quality that defines the brand. The lighter grey outer track, featuring a subtly speckled texture and cutout numerals, encompasses two superimposed hand-painted discs in grey and gold.

The Anyday's distinctive and highly intuitive display conceals its intricate 378-component mechanism. The manual-winding movement, driven by the in-house calibre C032, incorporates two cams for its complication: a smaller cam that stores energy over 24 hours for instantaneous date changes at midnight (within 1/1000th of a second), and a larger snail cam that rotates once every 31 days to facilitate the end-of-month transition. The movement operates at 3Hz and boasts a 72-hour power reserve, including exquisite decoration with undulating Krayon waves on the mainplate, flawless bevels, and mirror-polished edges.

The Anyday Rose Gold features an anthracite lizard leather strap with a rose gold pin buckle. We are anticipating confirmation of the official pricing, which is believed to align with the white gold model, retailing at CHF 88,000. Additional details can be found at krayon.ch.
