Cartier has reopened its freshly enlarged regional flagship in the Miami Design District, presenting a place that resembles a cultural icon rather than a mere boutique.

Situated at 147 NE 39th Street, the redesigned Maison embodies the spirit of Miami—audacious, radiant, and ever transforming—while retaining its own Cartier identity.
The façade, designed by the longstanding collaboration Diller Scofidio + Renfro, represents a dynamic architectural statement. A continuous wave of undulating glass, inscribed with a design inspired by a 1909 Cartier brooch, generates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow – disclosing just enough to captivate.
“We designed the wraparound façade in undulating glass to attract pedestrians while integrating the store with the street,” states founding partner Elizabeth Diller.
The outcome epitomizes Miami: dynamic, contemporary, and pulsating with energy.
Within, designer Laura Gonzalez metamorphoses the area into a verdant, immersive environment. She draws inspiration from Miami's tropical environment—its palms, mangroves, and oceanic illumination—imbuing Cartier's hallmark elegance with a uniquely regional warmth.

“I envisioned the store as a sensory odyssey,” Gonzalez articulates. “Each area elicits a distinct emotion: dynamism and energy at the entrance, and intimacy within the VIP lounges.”
A sculptural seashell staircase ascends, linking each level and directing visitors through a showcase of Cartier’s most renowned masterpieces – encompassing jewelry, luxury timepieces, fragrances, and leather products. Foliage patterns ascend the columns on the first floor, but natural forms and illuminated hues characterize the ground level. The journey concludes on the rooftop terrace, a tranquil garden adorned with vibrant tiles and verdant foliage that embodies the effortless pleasure of Miami living.
In accordance with Cartier's ethos, the new flagship in the Miami Design District transcends mere retail; it is an experiential space. A commemoration of artistry, design, and sentiment, it embodies the Maison's steadfast conviction that authentic luxury resides in experience, aesthetics, and relationships.
