Fragrances such as Agar Ébène, Vétiver Tonka, Santal Massoïa, and Ambre Narguilé emphasize unconventional material combinations.

Hermès’ Hermessence collection presents its latest installment, “An Oriental Dream,” with three new perfumes that engage in a discourse with the East. Crafted by Christine Nagel, Director of Olfactory Creation at Hermès, the fragrances delve into the opulent and diverse terrains of an imagined Orient, transcending the limits of olfactory artistry with sophistication and creativity.
Agar Ébène merges the profundity of agarwood with the resinous vitality of balsam fir, whereas Vétiver Tonka tempers the earthy notes of vetiver with the indulgent warmth of tonka bean. Other compositions in the collection, such as Santal Massoïa, characterized by its creamy woods and desiccated fruit notes, or Ambre Narguilé, a blend of amber, honey, and spice, underscore Hermès' capacity for innovation through unconventional combinations. Collectively, these fragrances reinforce the brand's dedication to creating aromas that are both wearable and evocative experiences—each serving as a sensory odyssey that endures on the skin and in the mind.
Since its inception in 2004, Hermessence has represented Hermès’ perspective on fragrance as an artistic and sensual production. Each piece is designed as a dialogue between two raw elements, skillfully created to evoke surprise and awe. Each Hermessence fragrance is encapsulated in a distinctive lantern-shaped bottle adorned with a saddle-stitched leather cap, embodying the brand's legacy of enduring workmanship and sophistication.
The new perfumes are priced at $362 USD and are currently accessible via Hermès' official website.
