Knatchbull, a beloved brand on Savile Row, has collaborated with the esteemed American label Mark Cross to create an elegant handbag influenced by the principles of British tailoring.

The womenswear tailor Knatchbull, located on Savile Row, has introduced a partnership with the American luxury brand Mark Cross, featuring a limited edition evening bag known as the Romy Tuxedo Clutch. We aimed to create a bag that embodies the textures and sophistication of Knatchbull’s distinctive tuxedo suiting, ensuring that every element mirrors the accuracy and deliberation inherent in our tailoring. Daisy Knatchbull, the business founder, states, "We chose to utilise our exquisite satin and velvet fabrics, which have consistently been the foundation of our evening wear at Knatchbull." “In collaboration with Sean Spellman at Mark Cross, we have designed a bag that merges distinctive tailoring with exceptional leather craftsmanship, yielding a creation that harmonises timeless elegance with contemporary versatility.”

The launch follows Daisy's three-week journey across North America, an area demonstrating significant engagement and growth for Knatchbull. Daisy states, "We have consistently cultivated an exceptional network of clients and acquaintances through the trunk shows we have hosted in the United States over recent years, and comprehending their preferences and expectations has been integral to our business. Americans possess a profound appreciation for understated, exquisitely crafted products that endure over time, and Mark Cross exemplifies these attributes, making our collaboration on a bag a logical decision."

The Romy clutch, crafted to enhance Knatchbull’s eveningwear collections, embodies the sartorial grace of a newly tailored tuxedo. The clutch, characterised by an all-black design and a streamlined style, features a soft velvet exterior and a satin velvet interior, making it suitable for any occasion and likely to elicit numerous praises. With sustainability as a central focus for both brands, they ensured that design elements met expectations: the clutch was crafted from FSC-certified bamboo viscose velvet, responsibly sourced from Japan, and manufactured without harmful chemicals that could affect the fabric's quality and durability.

In 2019, Daisy rocked the male-dominated culture of Savile Row by inaugurating the historic street's inaugural shopfront solely for women. Situated in a tranquil section of Mayfair, the Row epitomises bespoke tailoring and traditional workmanship, with a diverse clientele that includes David Beckham, Mick Jagger, and the late Prince Philip and Winston Churchill. As the Communications Director at the esteemed tailoring house Huntsman, Daisy generated considerable discussion by donning a top hat and tails at the Royal Enclosure of the Royal Ascot, thereby challenging a 200-year-old tradition and recognising a void in the market for women seeking high-quality tailored garments that cater to their individual needs and style preferences.

In 2024, The Deck underwent a rebranding, emerging as Knatchbull, so further aligning Daisy with the brand's vision and future trajectory. The continuation of their bespoke offering, emphasising premium fabrics from traditional European mills, has introduced a ready-to-wear collection that caters to the Knatchbull woman’s desire for convenient access to exquisitely crafted silk shirts, jumpsuits, and jackets that complement the bespoke items.

Daisy states, "Many women approach us seeking evening attire that is both timeless and impactful." They desire a flawlessly tailored suit to appear smart and sophisticated, even if the suit is in a subdued navy blue or black. This extends to most of our ready-to-wear collection, which we develop as ideal basics to accompany you throughout your life — it is versatile enough to transition easily from a day at work or lunch with friends to an evening out. Community and collaboration have consistently been fundamental to the Knatchbull brand. In September, Daisy and her team unveiled an exclusive capsule collection in collaboration with Aerin Lauder’s lifestyle brand AERIN, showcasing knitted cashmere vests and an assortment of safari coats crafted from suede, lambswool, and cashmere.

The collection enhanced Knatchbull’s ready-to-wear portfolio by integrating traditional British tailoring with a relaxed American aesthetic, aimed at the contemporary lady who prioritises a polished appearance while maintaining an active lifestyle. Daisy states, "A client may combine a cashmere knit with a suit during the day and subsequently replace it with a waistcoat in the evening for a more sophisticated appearance." “All of our creations at Knatchbull are crafted to adapt alongside you, rather than emphasising transient trends.”

This October, Daisy prominently featured the range upon opening her latest store in Chelsea, a stylish establishment created by the multi-disciplinary company MIRAHSTON, strategically positioned to attract a broader customer.

The Romy is accessible online and at Knatchbull's flagship store located on Savile Row. knatchbull.com
