Dalla, the latest Italian restaurant in London, has recently commenced operations, showcasing home-style cuisine by Mitchell Damota, complemented by interior design from Spazio Leone and Sicilian artist Oscar Piccolo.

Dalla was established to replicate the ambiance and hospitality of local Italian eateries, providing its owner, Gennaro Leone, a native of Naples, the chance to express his sense of home.
His Spazio Leone furniture showroom exhibits a profound understanding of Italian design, emphasizing unique pieces in conjunction with design classics. This methodology for Dalla's interiors aims to provide a "timeless" aesthetic by integrating historic Italian designs with unique acquisitions sourced by Leone in partnership with Sicilian designer Oscar Piccolo.

The new area features an array of hand-hammered signage, menu holders, and wall lamps, while a limited edition Stilnovo chandelier, acquired years ago from a Milanese house, adorns the main chamber. Pedestal round-base tables are custom-crafted with wooden tops that complement the restaurant's other wooden surfaces, accompanied by a pair of Robert Mallet-Stevens chairs featuring white leather upholstery.
A prototype caffeine designed by Riccardo Dalisi, created to commemorate 100 years of Alessi, occupies a corner of the room, overshadowed by a Piero Fornasetti picture from the 1930s. Subtle features are evident throughout the restaurant, including the Caccia Dominioni brass door handles and the 1950s brass mirror in the restroom, ascribed to Gio Ponti. The whole ambiance is designed to be private, personal, and unexpected, while remaining familiar.

Dalla’s kitchen is led by Mitchell Damota, former head chef at P Franco and Burro e Salvia, in collaboration with Gianmarco Leone, who formerly worked at Claridges. A fundamental aspect of the duo's menu will be seasonality, with each dish embodying regional Italian cuisine that best represents the seasons of the year.
In winter, dishes will be more substantial and warming, including Northern influences, to be paired with a robust red wine in a pleasant, dimly lit environment. Summer will turn to the South for fresh veggies and fish, to be enjoyed throughout late summer days.
It is currently open for visitation at 120 Morning Lane, Hackney, London E9 6LH.
