Prada is poised to transform luxury dining in China with the inauguration of its inaugural freestanding restaurant in Asia, in partnership with famous Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai. The establishment, titled Mi Shang Prada Rong Zhai, will be located in the ancient Rong Zhai mansion in Shanghai, a beautifully restored estate from 1918 that Prada has utilized as a cultural center since 2017.

My Shang Prada Rong Zhai derives its name from the Chinese expression “mi shang,” signifying “to be obsessed with,” which encapsulates the immersive and evocative ambiance the facility seeks to establish. The restaurant's design is fundamentally influenced by Wong Kar-wai, reflecting the visual elements of his renowned films In the Mood for Love and Happy Together. The area features mirrored surfaces and contrasted materials, reflecting the director's distinctive dreamy and sensual aesthetic. The concept is inspired by the philatelic motif of tête-bêche, which consists of two adjacent postal stamps in reversed orientations, representing a cultural connection between Milan and Shanghai.
