The Weeknd and Blue Bottle Introduce Two New Ethiopian Single Origin Coffees

The Weeknd is expanding his collaboration with the Australian coffee brand Blue Bottle.

During the summer, the artist and his team unveiled their partnership, Samra Origins, named in honor of The Weeknd's mother. Since then, they have introduced instant hot coffee and cold brew, as well as official merchandise.

The XO artist has released Samra Origins Single Origin Vol. 1 and Samra Origins Single Origin Vol. 2. Originating from the Hambela Estate in Ethiopia, Vol. 1 is a naturally processed bean that delivers a robust, fruity flavor. Volume 2 undergoes a washing process, wherein the organic debris of the coffee is removed and the beans are subsequently rinsed with water, resulting in a clearer, lighter profile.

“Ethiopian culture is integral to my identity, and I take pride in collaborating with the Blue Bottle Coffee team to highlight Ethiopian traditions, values, and, notably, coffee,” Tesfaye stated in a June announcement. During my upbringing, I observed my mother conduct Buna Tetu, a customary Ethiopian coffee ceremony. This sensory experience informed my comprehension of community and instilled in me the importance of honoring my origins.

The Weeknd and Blue Bottle's Samra Origins Single Origin Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 will be available online on Monday, December 4, for $22 USD each bag.
