To develop augmented reality glasses for the future.

Apple is intensifying its focus on spatial computing. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that the company is developing two new iterations of the Vision Pro headset: one that is lighter and more cost-effective, and another that interfaces directly with a Mac for ultra-low-latency performance.
The tethered form is designed for professional users requiring low latency, such as individuals use the headset for flight simulators or surgical imaging. Concurrently, the economical variant aims to enhance the accessibility of the Vision Pro, including a reduced price and a more ergonomic form compared to the original, which debuted in early 2024 at $3,499 USD.
Although these changes are still under development, Apple's long-term objective apparently continues to be actual augmented reality glasses—lightweight, everyday wearables that resemble conventional eyewear. Although AR glasses may still be several years away, these new models could advance Apple's pursuit of realizing that vision.
