Apple has officially introduced the second-generation AirTag, an item tracker designed with an extended connectivity range and improved audio locatability. The new attachment, equipped with the same Ultra Wideband chip as the latest iPhone 17 and Apple Watch models, enhances the Find My network ecosystem. The launch seeks to enhance user tracking of vital items by providing a more advanced Precision Finding experience and strengthened privacy safeguards.

The technical enhancements focus on the integration of Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband processor, enabling consumers to locate missing goods from far wider distances. This hardware compatibility with the iPhone 17 Pro and Apple Watch Ultra 3 facilitates haptic and visual guidance that is more responsive than the original 2021 model. A new Bluetooth chip enhances the discovery range, allowing the Find My network to transmit location data more effectively in congested or isolated areas.

The physical feedback has been revised to enhance accessibility, in addition to internal processing improvements. The internal speaker is now 50 percent louder, enabling the AirTag to be audible through dense materials such as baggage or upholstery from twice the distance of its predecessor. The item incorporates 85% recycled plastic and 100% recycled gold plating, emphasising sustainability. The new model preserves the original circular form factor, guaranteeing complete compatibility with the current range of FineWoven and leather attachments.
