Users can revise posts within 15 minutes, even as Meta reconsiders privacy by removing encrypted messaging.

Instagram has now introduced the functionality to edit comments on posts, fulfilling a long-standing request for correcting typographical errors and modifying statements. The newly introduced "Edit" option, located directly beneath a published comment, allows for rapid edits within a 15-minute timeframe via a text box. Upon saving, the remark exhibits a grey "Edited" label for transparency; nevertheless, followers cannot access the prior version history.
This feature follows many significant upgrades to the platform in early 2026. Meta has recently announced the cessation of end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messaging, attributing this decision to the remarkably low adoption rates among users who were required to opt in manually. The business indicated that consumers desiring completely secure communications may continue to depend on WhatsApp.
