TikTok is officially rolling out a new £3.99 monthly subscription in the UK, allowing users to scroll through their "For You" feed without any commercial interruptions.

The new service will be launched in the forthcoming months and will be accessible to consumers aged 18 and above. Individuals who enroll in the plan will not encounter advertisements on TikTok, and their data will not be utilized for advertising objectives. The rollout was presumably motivated by the U.K.’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which forbids corporations from gathering users’ personal data for advertising purposes without their agreement.

Kris Boger, TikTok's UK managing director, stated in a news statement, "Choice for our community and growth for UK businesses go hand in hand on TikTok" “Advertising on our platform is currently assisting numerous British enterprises in acquiring new customers, augmenting sales, and generating employment, while our newly introduced ad-free option provides individuals with enhanced control over their experience.”

TikTok initiated trials of the ad-free plan in 2023. The intentions of the social media behemoth regarding the introduction of the product in the U.S. remain unclear.
