Instagram Users Can Now Comment Publicly on Stories

Only mutual connections are permitted to remark on each other's Stories.

Users are now able to comment on Instagram Stories. Previously, users could directly message individuals who had uploaded Stories, with those messages appearing in their direct messages.

Comments will now be publicly visible to all, akin to comments on a standard Instagram post; however, individuals may decide to provide the direct messaging option based on their preferences.

Posters will have the ability to enable or disable comments on their Stories. Viewers of the Story can see comments, but only mutual connections with the poster are permitted to leave comments, which, similar to the Story, will vanish after 24 hours.

The experience closely resembles Instagram's live streaming functionality, allowing users to post comments visible to all.
