Spotify is implementing a significant update to enhance its listeners' experience with the extension of Song Credits and the introduction of two new features: SongDNA and About the Song.

The current Song Credits feature, which once displayed only topline performance, composition, and production credits, is undergoing substantial enhancement. It will now encompass all contributors to a track, including producers, engineers, songwriters, and featured artists. In conjunction with this update, Spotify published a video with Charlie Puth endorsing the extension, asserting that it will cultivate a “deeper connection between the song and the listeners” and guarantee that deserving producers receive appropriate acknowledgment.

SongDNA is an interactive visualization that delineates relationships among songs. This feature will showcase collaborators, samples, and covers collectively, allowing fans to explore the inspirations behind the music they appreciate. Furthermore, About the Song provides a more profound context for any tune. This feature, available as swipeable cards in the “Now Playing” display, provides listeners with insights on the narratives and cultural significance of the music they are enjoying.
