Anne Hathaway to Star in and EP True Crime Series ‘Fear Not’ at Paramount+

The drama inspired by a Vanity Fair real crime narrative, examines the profound connection established between a serial murderer and his last victim.

Anne Hathaway is augmenting her portfolio by officially committing to star in and executive produce "Fear Not," a new six-episode limited series for Paramount+. This marks her initial television endeavour since the 2022 series WeCrashed, adapting a Vanity Fair article by Julie Miller that details the horrible yet unexpectedly spiritual interaction between notorious serial killer Stephen Morin and his last victim, Margy Palm. Hathaway will portray Palm in a narrative that aims to examine the "nuance and gravity" of a perilous circumstance that becomes transforming.

The series, adapted by Bash Doran (Boardwalk Empire, Outlaw King), focusses on the genuine circumstances surrounding Palm's abduction, which transformed from a harrowing captivity into a partnership characterised by compassion, prayer, and bravery. The official logline states that Palm's "commitment to her faith and her belief in Morin's potential for transformation" created a connection that endured until Morin's execution. “By anchoring this unsettling true narrative in the protagonist's lived experience, Anne imparts a degree of nuance and seriousness to the screen that only a performer of her stature can,” stated Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+, in an interview with Deadline.

Fear Not is scheduled for release on Paramount+ in 2027. The series, produced by MGM Television, boasts a formidable team of executive producers, including Hathaway, Helen Estabrook from Vanity Fair Studios, and the actual Palm family. This project is part of a substantial forthcoming schedule for Hathaway, who has five films debuting this year, including The Devil Wears Prada 2, A24’s Mother Mary, and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
