The Emmy-nominated actress selected a striking gold ensemble.

We have come to anticipate the splendidly unforeseen from actress Chloë Sevigny. At the Venice Film Festival red carpet last month, for the opening of her latest production, Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt, she donned a Saint Laurent black lace bodysuit paired with a bubble skirt, complemented by an extravagant Tiffany diamond necklace. This evening at the Emmys, Sevigny, nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actress award for her portrayal of Kitty Menendez in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, reiterated the impactful Saint Laurent and Tiffany combination, opting for yellow gold in abundance.
Sevigny adorned each strap of her Saint Laurent black dress with a gold and diamond Maltese Cross brooch by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. Schlumberger was an innovative French designer who joined Tiffany in the late 1950s, renowned for his audacious creations, such as Bird on a Rock, an emblematic design that remains popular and has recently been worn by figures such Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, and Jeremy Allen White.
The Maltese cross is a historical emblem of protection originating in the 16th century. It is a renowned emblem in jewelry design, however Schlumberger's is, predictably, regarded as one of the pinnacle achievements of the genre.
Sevigny, as expected, adorned the gems with her characteristic flair and seemingly possesses a fondness for the Maltese. At the 2000 Oscars, the year she received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Boys Don’t Cry, she adorned herself with a necklace composed entirely of white diamonds. Her attire? Black Saint Laurent.
