Dua Lipa Co-Designed Versace's Next Collection With Donatella

The collection will premiere at a runway event in Cannes on May 23.

Dua Lipa's influence in fashion is increasingly robust following her co-chairing of this year's Met Gala. The Grammy-winning musician has collaborated with Donatella Versace to co-design a see-now, buy-now women's collection for Versace, named "La Vacanza."

The joint collection will be unveiled in Cannes at a fashion event on May 23. The runway event, although not listed on the official Cannes Film Festival schedule from May 16 to 27, will take place over the same timeframe at an undisclosed location.

Lipa expressed her exhilaration at having co-designed the women's 'La Vacanza' collection for Versace alongside Donatella, with whom she has a lengthy association. Lipa initially encountered Versace in London in 2017, subsequently featuring in the Italian brand's Autumn 2021 campaign. That year, she both opened and closed Versace's Spring 2022 show at Milan Fashion Week, showcasing two distinct ensembles. Recently, she occupied the first row at Versace’s Fall 2023 show, held at the Pacific Design Centre in West Hollywood in March.

“Donatella and I have developed a profound connection over the years, and I am immensely appreciative of the support I have garnered from her and the entire team since the inception of my career,” she stated. “It has been a dream for her to bestow upon me the honour of co-designing this collection and allowing my summer inspirations to flourish.” I am exceedingly pleased of this collection and eagerly anticipate its debut in Cannes.

“I have consistently drawn inspiration from a collaborative design process,” stated Versace, who has previously engaged designers such as Christopher Kane and Kim Jones for joint collections. Collaborating with Dua on this collection has been exhilarating, and I appreciate the synergy between us. Dua possesses strength, fearlessness, and freedom, and her artistic vision is remarkable. Summer is an enchanting season. We will encapsulate this sentiment and the hues of that season with a uniquely special and intimate fashion show in Cannes.

The "La Vacanza" collection will be accessible in retail locations and on the brand's website immediately after the exhibition.
