Rihanna has utilised Instagram to unveil a new trailer for her next film Smurfs and announces the release of a new song titled “Friend of Mine” as part of the film's soundtrack. This will signify her inaugural song in more than three years.
The international icon released a clip of the film in which she co-stars with John Goodman, James Corden, Nick Offerman, and Sandra Oh. She is a producer of Smurfs and has utilised social media to announce, 'new #SmurfsMovie trailer including 'Friend Of Mine' from the Smurfs soundtrack out Friday'. Pre-save now. The comments section is inundated with enthusiasm from her admirers, who seem pleased that she is releasing new songs regardless of the format. One user states, "At least she is in the studio," while another remarks, "This is the closest, so we shall accept it, babe."
“Friend of Mine” is Rihanna's inaugural single following her 2022 release “Lift Me Up” for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The song attained the No. 2 position on the Hot 100 and achieved platinum status in 2023. Last week at the Met Gala, Rihanna affirmed that new music is forthcoming. Smurfs premieres in theatres on July 18.
