From pilot instrument to cosmopolitan symbol, Rolex commemorates the lasting heritage of the GMT-Master through a unique display that chronicles the timepiece's growth throughout decades of travel.

Rolex and Cortina Watch will present a special exhibition focused on the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master from 24 October to 2 November 2025 at Paragon Level 1, Main Atrium. The exhibition, entitled “Time Zone to Time Zone,” honors a timepiece that epitomizes international travel and interpersonal connection. Since its inception, the GMT-Master has evolved from a professional instrument into a cultural emblem, transitioning from aviation to global prominence.
The display chronicles the GMT-Master's illustrious development, commencing in 1955 when it was initially designed for transcontinental pilots during the emergence of commercial flight. Renowned for its unique two-tone bezel and 24-hour hand, the model transformed the manner in which travelers monitored time across several locations. Guests can explore how the watch has followed significant milestones in aviation and exploration — from early transatlantic flights to contemporary space travel — through historical photos, thematic panels, and a short film, therefore solidifying its status as a symbol of accuracy and adventure.
The exhibition examines the ongoing evolution of the GMT-Master's design while maintaining its original essence. The two-tone bezel, first made of Plexiglas and then aluminium, is currently produced in Cerachrom ceramic, esteemed for its luster and durability. The radiant Chromalight display improves visibility in dim conditions, while the selection of Oystersteel, yellow Rolesor, or 18ct gold wristbands demonstrates adaptability in both design and utility.

The display centers on Rolex's dedication to refinement via understated innovation. Over seven decades and eleven movement enhancements — from the original calibre 1036 to the contemporary calibre 3285 — the GMT-Master has adapted to the demands of each period while maintaining its distinctive individuality. The 1982 introduction of an independently changeable hour hand was a pivotal occasion, leading to the development of the GMT-Master II as it exists today.
The GMT-Master embodies the cadence of an interconnected world. Its presence on the wrists of aviators, artists, and travelers underscores its worldwide allure – a friend for people who traverse life across continents. The "Time Zone to Time Zone" exhibition encourages attendees to re-examine this lasting symbol of travel and ageless design.
