The 20th anniversary of the Boucheron Quatre collection commemorates a fusion of four design codes into a singular eternal classic.

Few items from 2004 retain their appeal today, yet Boucheron’s Quatre has beyond expectations: its contemporary, endlessly adaptable, and innovative design has established it as a perennial standout within the brand's portfolio. In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of a jewellery collection that has endured numerous trends since its inception, Boucheron converted its historic four-storey flagship at Place Vendôme into Club Quatre, a vibrant disco evocative of the 2000s, on February 29—a date that occurs once every four years. The attendees for the lively evening were the maison’s inaugural Korean global ambassador, actress Han So-hee; British television presenter Alexa Chung; Saudi actress Mila Al Zahrani; Japanese singer and personality Rola; Polish model Anja Rubik; and Filipino fashion influencer Heart Evangelista.
As part of the year-long celebration, the maison convened its exclusive club of ambassadors, including the newly appointed Chinese global ambassador, singer-actor Xiao Zhan, to feature in its “More Is More Is More” and “Icons” campaigns, showcasing their unique styles with the Quatre collection. The Quatre Is 20 pop-up boutique was introduced to showcase archival materials and facilitate both physical and digital jewellery try-ons, in addition to featuring a nail bar and an on-site manicurist. Following Paris, Quatre Is 20 will proceed to Seoul, Shanghai, and subsequently Tokyo this year.
Although it is a relatively recent addition to the jewellery house established in 1858, the Quatre collection pays tribute to four design codes derived from Boucheron’s history, manifested in four interconnected bands: clou de Paris, inspired by the cobblestones of the French capital; grosgrain, reflecting the ribbed silks and the founding family’s legacy as drapers; a row of diamonds, symbolizing the maison’s proficiency as a jeweller; and double gadroons, a fluted architectural pattern first utilized in Boucheron’s jewellery in the 1860s, representing unity and everlasting love. The four elements are interconnected and secured without adhesive or solder, yielding a stackable structure that is innovative, expressive, and, in perfect harmony with the Boucheron ethos, perpetually enjoyable.
The collection originated with a solitary ring in yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, and brown physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating, and has since expanded to include bracelets, bangles, cuffs, sautoirs, pendants, earrings, ear clips, and a hair jewel; characterized by exaggerated proportions, openwork, and designs that incorporate one or two of the four motifs. The maison emphasizes innovation and technology, adopting a playful approach to materiality. The successive Quatre variations incorporate ceramic-polymer or PVD coatings in white, blue, red, or black; the Quatre Jean ring and bangle capsule crafted from denim; a collaboration with Saint-Gobain, known for industrial materials, resulting in a Quatre ring featuring holographic ceramic; and a high jewellery rendition—the Boucheron Puissance Quatre bangles—for the 2023 Carte Blanche – More Is More collection, constructed from aluminium and finished with resin and lacquer.

What is the most recent development of the Boucheron Quatre design? The innovations introduced to commemorate its 20th anniversary demonstrate that the transformation of the Quatre is far from complete: Narrow and wide Quatre Classique chokers; necklaces constructed from 50 Quatre Classique or Quatre Radiant Edition rings interconnected; a versatile multi-wear necklace; a cape featuring 315 Quatre rings (worn by Anja Rubik in the anniversary campaign); a complete ensemble of 12 Quatre bangles assembled to mimic a colossal spool; an exquisite rendition of the Quatre Classique ring, bangle, and necklace, adorned with yellow sapphire baguettes and spessartite garnets integrated into the grosgrain and double gadroons, respectively.
