Tiffany & Co. unveils the third rendition of the Bird on a Rock – introducing the Bird on a Pearl.

The Tiffany Diamond, one of the biggest yellow diamonds ever unearthed, is most famously showcased in the fanciful and audacious Bird on a Rock setting by Jean Schlumberger. Following the 2023 iteration of Rainbow Bird on a Rock, which showcased the designer's passion for color and material amalgamation, alongside his appreciation for the 19th-century art of paillonné enamel, the maison transitions to a Bird on a Pearl high jewellery capsule collection; the bird now rests not on a rock, but on some of the world's most exquisite natural saltwater pearls.

Under the innovative guidance of Tiffany’s Chief Artistic Officer Nathalie Verdeille, the Bird on a Pearl high jewelry capsule highlights the captivating beauty of real saltwater pearls in novel, creative designs. Some designs depict the bird resting on baroque or drop pearls, while others illustrate the bird and pearls intricately intertwined in a singular motion, with the pearls constituting the bird’s head or body – merging organic grace with audacious craftsmanship. Incorporate the dimension of the pearls' lustrous, gradient hues ranging from creamy whites to chocolate browns, and observe the delicate transitions of the seasons unfold like a narrative; the gentle light of spring transitions into the warmth of summer, which gradually diminishes into the subtle tones of autumn.

The uniqueness of this capsule lies in the fact that each pearl is meticulously selected from the private collection of Mr. Hussein Al Fardan, a preeminent authority on natural saltwater pearls, renowned for possessing the largest collection sourced from the Gulf region, which is considered the most exquisite of its kind. This marks the third consecutive year the house has collaborated with him, rendering it an exceptionally unusual opportunity for a premium jewellery establishment. Acquiring the jewelry alone would have necessitated almost 20 years of sourcing without his assistance.

The bird may be observed with its wings spread, gliding through the air, or perched in a frontal orientation. The capsule consists of six distinct chapters - Bird on a Pearl, Acorn, Oak Leaf, Cascade, Inverted Petals, and Ribbon — each adding a new radiant dimension to the iconic Bird on a Rock, in homage to Jean Schlumberger’s passion for nature and its themes.
