Amazon is allegedly strategising a significant reentry into the smartphone market more than ten years after the notable failure of its initial Fire Phone in 2014. The undisclosed project, internally referred to as “Transformer,” is purportedly being developed to significantly use the company’s enhanced Alexa Plus AI helper. The gadget will immediately incorporate Amazon’s ecosystem of services, such as shopping, Prime Video, and Prime Music, along with third-party partners like Grubhub, rather than depending on conventional app stores.

Leaks initially reported by Reuters indicate that the experimental device is undergoing multiple iterations. Some prototypes embrace the characteristics of fully developed modern smartphones, while others draw inspiration from minimalist devices such as the Light Phone, envisioning a simplified "dumb phone" intended to serve as a supplementary companion device rather than a direct competitor to the iPhone. Despite the vast scope of the project, the device's release remains uncertain. Sources suggest that the Transformer concept is still nascent and still lacks a concrete schedule or pricing structure. The contemporary mobile industry is notoriously challenging to penetrate, and Amazon may opt to discontinue its efforts entirely if development expenses or overarching corporate plans change in the forthcoming months.
