Apple Introduces New M5-Equipped iPad, MacBook, and Vision Pro

The iPad Pro now surpasses most laptops in power, while the Apple Vision Pro has transitioned from M2 to M5, representing a significant advancement in processing capability.

Apple today introduced a collection of new devices featuring its next-generation M5 chip, enhancing its initiatives in AI, graphics, and performance across the iPad and MacBook, while also revealing an enhanced version of the Apple Vision Pro. The unveiling signifies Apple’s most significant performance advancement since the original M1, with the technology leader highlighting artificial intelligence processing, display technology, and battery efficiency as primary focal points.


The focal point of the announcements is the new iPad Pro, with Apple's finest Ultra Retina XDR display in both 11-inch and 13-inch variants. The tablet is equipped with the latest M5 chip, which Apple claims provides up to 3.5 times superior AI performance compared to its predecessor and 5.6 times faster than the original M1. The updated architecture includes a 10-core GPU, with each core equipped with a Neural Accelerator, complemented by a 16-core Neural Engine and enhanced unified memory bandwidth. Wi-Fi 7 is enabled by the new N1 wireless chip, while a C1X modem pushes cellular speeds up to 50 percent faster than before. Prices commence at £999 GBP / $999 USD, with combinations for ROM/RAM varying from 256GB/12GB to 2TB/16GB.

On the Mac side, Apple has released a new 14-inch MacBook Pro also packed with the M5 CPU that it claims offers up to 24 hours of battery life. The new laptop boasts enhanced, accelerated SSD speed, along with advancements in both graphics and AI tasks. And, in terms of pricing, it’s on par with its predecessor, starting at £1,599 GBP / $1,599 USD, with internal storage options going up to 4TB.



The Cupertino-based business also showcased an updated, M5-powered Vision Pro that advantages from a multi-generational boost in processing capability compared to the original Vision Pro from 2024 (which was powered by Apple’s M2 chip). The new headset includes a Dual Knit Band that Apple claims enhances fit and comfort, and it operates on the latest visionOS 26, which introduces revised Personas, novel immersive experiences, and increased support for spatial applications. Available storage capacities include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, with costs commencing at £3,199 GBP / $3,499 USD.



Apple’s new products continue its aim to incorporate more AI-focused performance across its entire hardware ecosystem, presenting the M5 as the company’s most important processor upgrade since Apple Silicon debuted. Pre-orders commence today on Apple’s website, with items available worldwide beginning October 22.
