Elon Musk has declared the relocation of the headquarters for both SpaceX and X. SpaceX will transfer its operations from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas, whereas X will shift from San Francisco to Austin.

Tesla operates its engineering division in California, while its corporate offices relocated to Austin in 2021. Musk is a resident of Texas as well.

On Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom enacted legislation prohibiting schools from mandating that instructors notify parents when a student alters their name or pronouns utilized at school. Musk stated in a post on X that it was "the final straw" and blamed the legislation of "assaulting both families and corporations."

In February, Musk relocated SpaceX's corporate office from Delaware to Austin. The action was prompted by a Delaware court's ruling requiring Tesla to revoke a $56 billion USD compensation package awarded to Musk as CEO in 2018.
