In a perfect scenario, every individual would have an expert readily available to inform them whether a call is fraudulent. Fortunately, Google's new function for Pixel phones can discern scam callers by analyzing their speech and notifying them if criminal intent is detected.
Google Pixel's Scam Detector Launches via Google Public Beta

The Google Security blog has announced the introduction of a new Scam Detection feature in the Phone by Google application. Upon activation, it provides a secondary assessment of the legitimacy of the individual on the opposite end of a call.
Scam Detection employs robust on-device AI to alert you of suspected scam calls in real-time by identifying conversation patterns typically linked to frauds. For instance, if an individual purporting to represent your bank requests an immediate funds transfer due to a purported account breach, Scam Detection will analyze the call to ascertain its likelihood of being spam. If deemed suspicious, it can issue an audio and haptic alert, along with a visual warning indicating the call may be fraudulent.
Fortunately, Google asserts that all AI processing occurs on the device, alleviating concerns about your phone transmitting call transcripts to an external server. If you are uneasy with an AI model monitoring your talks, you may deactivate the option.
Regrettably, utilizing this new instrument necessitates navigating several obstacles. The functionality is presently accessible solely in English. Secondly, you must reside in the United States and possess a Pixel 6 or a more recent model. Ultimately, you must become a beta tester for Phone by Google, which you may explore further on the Phone app support page.
