Insta360 is seeing significant momentum. Following the introduction of its inaugural drone last week, the brand has returned with a significant statement on a somewhat smaller product.

The all-new Insta360 GO Ultra is a little yet potent device, comparable in size to a smartwatch, which the firm characterizes as a “evolution in the realm of compact cameras.” Weighing under 53 grams, it incorporates a 1/1.28-inch sensor that is 221% larger than its predecessor, enabling the capturing of 4K ultra-clear footage at 60fps, and is equipped with a 14.27mm equivalent lens with a maximum aperture of F2.85.

Max Richter, co-founder of Insta360, stated that the GO Ultra enhances the innovations from the brand's highly acclaimed Ace and X camera series, with an ultra-compact form that facilitates creative possibilities while maintaining portability.

The GO Ultra has a newly engineered 5nm AI chip, which Insta360 claims produces superior imaging quality—so exceptional that the manufacturer asserts it was "impossible" to attain comparable results with the prior GO series. The new larger sensor, combined with the robust 5nm processor, facilitates the production of smooth, ultra-crisp 4K footage at 60fps, while enabling users to fully utilize the integrated AI capabilities, such as PureVideo—a proprietary technology designed to minimize visual noise and enhance brightness in low-light conditions.

The GO Ultra possesses a built-in magnetic base that is compatible with various accessories, providing customers with many mounting choices. Furthermore, the compact new device is equipped with an oversized battery that provides 200 minutes of recording capacity at 1080p and 170 minutes at 4K. It incorporates both speech and gesture controls and functions as a point-and-shoot camera, requiring only a single button press to instantaneously capture an image.

The GO Ultra features a 2.5-inch articulating touchscreen display that tilts upward for user convenience, providing a huge and luminous interface capable of clearly showcasing its 156° broad field of vision throughout the day, including in sunlight. It possesses an IPX8 rating, rendering it waterproof and safe for submersion in water up to 33 feet (10 meters) deep.

Insta360 has released multiple attachments at launch. These comprise the Action Pod, Magnetic Easy Clip, Magnetic Pendant, Sticky Tabs, AquaLens, Ring Remote, among others.

The GO Ultra is currently available on the Insta360 website. The "Standard Bundle" is priced at £389 GBP / $449.99.
