The headset is marketed as a more economical substitute for the Quest.

Meta has developed a mixed reality headgear that encompasses all the functionalities of the Quest 3, although at a reduced price range. The Meta Quest 3S is acclaimed as a headset for individuals who are "new to mixed reality and immersive experiences" or for those seeking an upgrade from the Quest or Quest 2.

The Quest 3S is priced at $300 USD, whereas the Quest 3 is priced at $500 USD. The aforementioned equipment was initially priced at $650 USD and was released last year; however, Meta asserts that it employs the same technology created for the headgear in the Quest 3S.
One of the sophisticated features is full-color Passthrough, enabling the user to perceive their surrounding environment while engaged in a virtual reality experience. The company has revamped Meta Horizon OS for spatial computing and enhanced the functionality of 2D applications.
The Meta Quest 3S is currently available for pre-order in 128GB and 256GB configurations.
