Launching this June, the audio brand's latest flagship over-ears tackle battery degradation head-on by introducing an easy-to-replace power cell design into their premium wireless lineup.

Sennheiser has recently unveiled the Momentum 5 Wireless headphones. The fifth-generation flagship retains a recognizable modern design while incorporating substantial internal hardware enhancements. The distinguishing characteristic is a user-replaceable 700mAh battery. This represents a first for the premium range and seeks to substantially prolong the product's lifespan. Listeners can replace the cell using a regular screwdriver to address natural battery deterioration. The brand increased the number of microphones to eight. Sennheiser asserts that this configuration enhances active noise cancellation, rendering it three times more effective at obstructing ambient vocal chatter and aircraft noise.
The price is set at $399.99 USD, indicating a modest increase compared to the prior version. The Momentum 5 Wireless employs identical 42mm drivers manufactured in the brand's Tullamore facility. These transducers are inspired by the renowned HD 600 series, providing robust dynamic bass. The new model features Hi-Res Audio certification in conjunction with Snapdragon Sound technology. This architecture supports sophisticated codecs such as AptX Lossless and LDAC for high-fidelity CD-quality streaming on compatible Android devices. A companion application offers an eight-band visual equalization and an advanced sound personalization engine for customized listening profiles.

This release prioritizes future-proofing. The headset is equipped with Bluetooth 5.4 but has hardware intended for a future upgrade to Bluetooth 6.0 through firmware updates. Early users will soon gain access to Dolby Atmos spatial audio with head tracking following the launch. A complete charge provides an astounding 57 hours of listening with active noise suppression activated. This endurance far surpasses prominent competitors, such as the new Sony flagship headphones, which achieve approximately 30 hours under comparable settings.
Environmental responsibility encompasses more than just the readily maintainable hardware. The carrying case is 20 percent smaller than earlier versions to minimize shipping effect. The packaging is entirely devoid of plastic. Pre-orders commence on June 25, preceding the global launch on June 30. Fans can acquire the headphones in black, white, and denim color variants.
