Sony has introduced its newest wireless earbuds, the WF-1000XM6, a much awaited enhancement to the iconic 1000X line, with advanced noise cancellation, superior call quality, and a subtly updated style. Announced today and already available globally, the new earbuds are being released alongside a new “Sand Pink” colour variant of the over-ear WH-1000XM6 headphones.

Following the WF-1000XM5, Sony claims that their latest model enhances active noise cancellation (ANC) by achieving a 25% reduction in ambient noise using its next-generation QN3e integrated processor and an adaptive noise-cancelling optimiser. Each earbud is now equipped with four microphones, facilitating more accurate real-time changes according to the surroundings and fit. Sony is prioritising sound performance by integrating 32-bit processing and a newly engineered speaker unit aimed at enhancing clarity across both low and high frequencies.

The earbuds are compatible with Hi-Res Audio Wireless, incorporate DSEE Extreme upscaling, and offer customisable EQ settings using the Sony Sound Connect app. They also enable LE Audio, a low-latency Bluetooth variation that renders them a suitable choice for gaming. The enhancement of call quality is achieved by the integration of AI beam-forming microphones and a bone conduction sensor, which effectively isolates the user's speech in noisy settings. Connectivity enhancements feature an antenna that is 1.5 times larger than its predecessor, while battery longevity provides up to eight hours per charge and a total of 24 hours when incorporating the case.
