The majority of layoffs affected the company's content moderation section.

TikTok has allegedly terminated the employment of hundreds of employees worldwide, notably affecting a significant portion of its Malaysia headquarters.
The corporation verified the reports of layoffs, stating that fewer than 500 employees in Malaysia were impacted, refuting previous speculation that the figure exceeded 700. The individuals who were terminated received notification through email on Wednesday.
The majority of the layoffs occurred in TikTok's content moderation division, which will increasingly depend on AI.
The organization presently employs a combination of human content moderators and artificial intelligence. TikTok states on its website that "moderators collaborate with our automated moderation systems and consider additional context and nuance that may not always be detected by technology."
Reports suggest that over 80% of information removed from the application was identified by its AI algorithms; nevertheless, TikTok may now be enhancing the efficacy of that AI.
