Leica and Xiaomi have officially launched the Leica Leitzphone, signifying the camera manufacturer's inaugural international smartphone release. The device integrates historical photography with contemporary mobile imaging, embodying Leica’s distinctive aesthetic and optical proficiency for everyday use. The smartphone features a simple design, characterised by a black fibreglass rear panel encased in a knurled metal frame, adorned with the distinctive Leica red dot. A notable hardware characteristic is the mechanical camera ring, which provides tactile control over zoom, exposure, ISO, and shutter speed, while enabling users to alternate between bespoke Leica Looks.

The gadget is internally driven by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, constructed on a 3nm process, complemented with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The visual experience is supported by a 6.9-inch Xiaomi HyperRGB OLED display featuring a 1-120Hz LTPO refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 3500 nits. The Leitzphone features a sophisticated triple-camera system at its core. The configuration comprises a 50MP primary camera featuring a 1-inch sensor that employs LOFIC technology to enhance dynamic range, in addition to a 200MP periscope telephoto lens with an optical zoom range of 75 to 100mm, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. The system is powered by a 6000mAh battery that facilitates 90W wired and 50W wireless HyperCharge capabilities.
