Insta360, a manufacturer of action cameras, has elevated its offerings by introducing a new sub-brand named Antigravity, which will unveil "the world’s first drone featuring 8K 360-degree capture" in early 2024 – the Antigravity A1.

Insta360 has long been a dominant force in the 360-degree camera market; nevertheless, the Antigravity A1 represents the company's inaugural endeavor to elevate this technology into aerial applications.
The recently introduced drone is equipped with a dual-lens camera system positioned on both the top and bottom, enabling it to capture its whole surroundings without any blind zones. Utilizing the provided Vision goggles and Grip controller, along with Antigravity’s proprietary FreeMotion technology, users can navigate in 360 degrees while operating the drone through intuitive hand gestures, creating an experience that the company characterizes as an unparalleled level of immersion.

The Antigravity A1 not only immerses users in flight but also stimulates creativity when returning to the ground. Its 360-degree field of view encompasses perspectives that users may have overlooked or never contemplated, and, as seen in its promotional film, a single snap can provide numerous images.
The Antigravity A1 has a weight of 249 grams (about 0.5 pounds) and complies with regulatory standards in numerous nations and regions, as stated by the manufacturer. “Our objective was not merely to construct another drone.” "Our objective was to develop a completely novel method of flight," stated BC Nie, Head of Marketing at Antigravity. A1 is the initial phase in redefining flying as an accessible experience for all—characterized by safety, intuitiveness, expressiveness, and boundless creativity.
Insta360 has consistently led the 360-degree camera industry, with its X Series establishing the benchmark for consumer versions. Merely two weeks prior, the Shenzhen-based competitor DJI introduced the Osmo 360, its inaugural 360-degree camera, in a strategic maneuver perceived as a challenge to that supremacy. With the introduction of its new sub-brand Antigravity and the imminent release of the A1 drone, the competitive landscape has been established, and it will be intriguing to observe the progression of the firms' rivalry.
In anticipation of the forthcoming device's introduction next year, Insta360 is soliciting creatives globally to "contribute to the evolution of Antigravity products," with certain applicants receiving "a pre-production Antigravity A1 for testing, exploration, and idea sharing." Additional information is available on the brand's website.
The Antigravity A1 is scheduled for launch in January 2026. The pricing has yet to be disclosed; however, please remain attentive for further updates as they become available.
