At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Lenovo introduced a revolutionary innovation: the Solar Yoga PC, a laptop that self-charges by utilizing solar energy. This innovative device represents a substantial advancement in sustainable technology, incorporating sophisticated solar energy conversion capabilities to prolong battery life, even in dim lighting situations.

The Lenovo Solar Yoga PC employs Back Contact Cell technology, integrating solar cells on the device's backside and repositioning mounting brackets and gridlines to the back. This design optimizes light absorption, hence improving total energy efficiency.

Lenovo has implemented a Dynamic Solar Tracking System to enhance power generation, which continuously monitors the current and voltage of solar panels, changing in real time for optimal energy conversion. Lenovo asserts that the solar panel features a 24% conversion rate, one of the greatest in the industry. Remarkably, even 20 minutes of sunshine exposure can produce sufficient energy for one hour of video playback.

The Yoga Solar PC features a slender 15 mm profile and a lightweight design of 1.22 kg, effectively combining portability with sustainability. Although Lenovo has not disclosed a release date, this breakthrough establishes a significant benchmark for the future of sustainable computing.
